We had to come up with an idea for a fruit bowl. This took me many attempts to get to the final one.  I initially used folded paper and also used wire.  The wire I tried to curl around a bit like barbed wire on top of a wall, so that the fruit would be trapped inside sitting on the table surface.  This reminded me of Castiglioni's ashtray for Alessi.

I came to my final idea, with thinking of an egg box and how I could reproduce this and then thought how it was quite similar to 'chatter boxes' the paper toys that kids use.

On making a larger version of the 'chatter box' i realised that you could turn it upside down and that instead of one cavity you had 4. I made up a few and I was going to try and connect them together some how with glue or tape, but then realised that when they were upside down, they could connect by one of the corners sitting into the corner of another one.

They are quite practical as they can be used either way up and you can connect how many you want to each other. They can be connected in one straight line, or can be made to look more abstract.  They would probably work well in plastic.
